In 2008, business productivity all but stopped increasing in the UK whilst inequality continues to rise.

Our mission is to increase UK business productivity from one of the lowest in the G7 to one the highest, and we aim to do that one business at a time and each business one behaviour at a time.

Improving business productivity increases business profitability and creates more sustainable growth, which creates more jobs and higher salaries, increasing taxation, so there is more money available for public services such as schools and hospitals.

With improved business productivity comes better quality jobs that help to improve employee well-being and mental health. In turn, this can help improve communities too.

We all know that growth can’t come at the expense of the environment any longer either. Real sustainable business productivity improvement can only come when everybody benefits.

As Anita Roddick said of the Bodyshop, "there is no more important institution in society today than business."

While Paul Krugman, the Nobel prize-winning economist, said “Productivity isn’t everything, but in the long run, it’s almost everything."

In the past, business metaphors were machines, clocks and armies. Today we need to see them as organisations.

It’s almost written on the tin; the word organisation has the word organ in it. Businesses are more like organisms today than they are machines. They're living, breathing things, not the machines of old. Like neurons within a brain with people all connected up, collaborating, sharing information creating a thinking organisation. A brain is a better metaphor for business today than a machine or a clock.
